Tipping the scales at just over six stones, 41-year-old Elizabeth Young thinks she’s found the elixir to eternal youth: an extremely disciplined diet. She exists on a radical diet of Brazil nuts, rice, garlic and not much else. In the feeding clinic, Dr Christian Jessen, begs to differ and has the challenge of persuading her that her lack of eating is doing the exact opposite; it’s prematurely ageing her.
(I love this episode. Some parts are to cry for, while during other parts I only laugh a lot. Elizabeth’s discipline with her diet impresses me a lot…)
True Life: I Have An Eating Disorder:
True Life episode follows 3 individuals suffering from an eating disorder. They’re telling why they started to binge and purge and how this disorder is affecting their life. Watch how their family is going to react when they tell them about this secret part of their life…
“Super Skinny Me”:
In this shocking documentary about the extreme lengths some women will go to lose weight, two average-sized journalists accept a challenge to whittle themselves down to a size zero within 5 weeks. With everything short of surgery and drugs at their disposal, the effects of the rapid weight loss and extreme dieting on these two women has to be seen to be believed.
After trying every diet in the book, a family of dieters are about to give up until the latest nutritional science comes to their aid. Sit back as THE TRUTH ABOUT FOOD reveals the foods that keep you feeling fuller for longer, how dairy products may hold the secret to reducing calorie absorption, and whether or not the speed of our metabolism really determines how fat we are.
And now I’m watching “The Truth about Online Anorexia”:
Fearne Cotton examines the ongoing trend for super-slim women and immerses herself in the worrying world of pro-ana websites who encourage anorexia and starvation as a life choice. As Fearne explores the diet and exercise regime of a pro-ana, shell try some of the extreme regimes that they endorse and meet other girls whove embraced the same lifestyle. She will explore the seductive nature of these support groups, examine the world of competitive dieting, and look at relationships that ordinary women have with each other when it comes to diet and body image.
The program follows writer and TV presenter Dawn Porter on a journey to discover what it takes to become a super slim Hollywood size zero. At a curvy UK size 12 Dawn is limited to a mere 500 calories per day in order to get down to her desired size. The story shows her struggle with insomnia, exhaustion and lack of energy due to reduced nutrients in her diet throughout the two months; I am looking forward to seeing her full story. In my opinion the program is a fantastic idea to prove that getting down to a super slim size is not in any way easy or healthy.
In the last few weeks my life changed so much. The broken pieces of my old self are drifting apart and the only thing I can do now is to start all over, set my goals again and to glue the pieces back together with the things, who are important for me.
To reach my goals I'm doing my best to be the skinny, healthy and beautiful person I'm meant to be.
